THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOUDOIR AND GLAMOUR (BEAUTY)

Our clients often come to us with no idea of the type of pictures they want of themselves and this is totally fine.

They know they want the experience.

Maybe they’ve seen us in various places online and love the thought of an empowering and enriching experience.

Maybe they’ve been recommended by a friend. (“You really must do this, it totally changed they way I look at myself in a positive way”)

Others know they really want to do this but they may have no idea what outfits they need to bring or how they’ll want to display all the amazing pictures afterwards.

Again, this is totally ok and we’re here to help.

One of the big questions you’ll need to ask yourself early on is how you want your pictures to look.

Some of our clients want to feel the excitement and ‘rush’ of baring all in front of the camera. Totally naked, indoors, or even bolder, outdoors in nature. ( Some studios call this ‘Fine Art’ style )

Other clients don’t want to go that far and prefer the idea of wearing lingerie and being photographed in a more sensual way. (This is more traditional ‘Boudoir’ style )

A third group of clients prefer the idea of being photographed with clothes for a more Fashion look ( We call this ‘Glamour or Beauty’ style, far removed from the old style Topless, Page 3 style ‘Glamour’. The word has a totally different meaning now. )

The decision you make is entirely up to you and your personal comfort level. Many women think they’d like to go bolder but during the shoot play a little safer and other go the other way. Starting with stretchy jumpers and white shirts and then graduating to white sheets and soon muster up the courage to walk around totally naked without a care in the world!

(If we happen to be photographing in a luxury Hotel we often find ourselves begging clients to cover up so that the hotel guests aren’t offended. Honestly, that’s more common than you can imagine.)

The truth is though, we actively encourage you to arrive with an open mind.

We suggest that you turn up with plenty of modest outfit options. - A ‘going out’ dress, a Summer Dress, Jeans and Ts, stretchy jumper, man’s white shirt, swim suit, pjs etc. Wearing outfits like this will get you relaxed in front of the camera and start to enjoy the process of being photographed.

After that, when you feel more comfortable, we can then photograph you in a more Boudoir Style with Lingerie and more revealing outfits, looking super sensual.

It’s only when, and if, you become super confident, will we photograph you nude or implied nude and only if you suggest that’s what you really want to do. We know from experience that the women who do this feel extraordinarily liberated after the experience but it’s certainly not for everyone.

Most of our photoshoots are a mixture of ‘Beauty/Glam and Boudoir’

So, in a nutshell, Boudoir Photography is a more intimate or sensual style of photography with lingerie or less and our version of ‘Glamour’ Photography is more fashion style, clothes on photography in a glamorous style.

Both Boudoir and Glamour are tasteful and stylish, with you looking amazing after having hair and make-up and we often mix and match our styles depending on your personal preference.

It’s fair to say that almost all our ‘Boudoir’ shoots contain an element of ‘Glamour/Beauty’ but if you’re not ready to bare your body at all, then a ‘glam/beauty’ session is perfect for you.

Pictures you’ll receive from a glam shoot will be ideal for showing the family and displaying proudly on your walls. (or for social media )
