HOW REVEALING WILL YOUR BOUDOIR PHOTOSHOOT BE?
This is a question that should be asked pretty early on when you’re thinking of booking a Boudoir Photoshoot. It’s all about your personal comfort level. How comfortable are you in your own skin? When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you love what you see?
The aim of an experience such as this is to empower you. To give you more confidence about who you are and to be totally accepting of how you look.
If you don’t gain confidence in yourself then we have failed in what we set out to do.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if you started out thinking you have to layer up and by the end of the day, your confidence was so high that you would be capable of walking home, naked, in the rain, with a big smile on your face?
OK, we can’t guarantee that result every time but you’d be amazed at how many of our clients become so empowered we end up having to beg them to keep their clothes on for fear of being banned from the hotel.
So, in this article, we aim to tackle the issue of how much is ‘revealing’ because it’s very different for everyone.
‘Revealing’ is defined as allowing more of the wearer's body to be seen than is usual.
Since everyone’s personal comfort level is different, that can mean, totally covered in fabric or completely naked.
What's your comfort level?
Is it a T-shirt, denim shorts, little Black Dress or a swimsuit?
How about Lingerie?
Bedsheets?
Topless?
Not showing anything but near naked underneath?
Oh, and keep in mind, your ‘comfort level’ may change during the shoot itself so be prepared for that. Some clients want to try nudity and then change their minds on the day and others throw caution to the wind and treat it like a personal dare - Everyone is over the moon with the end results though.
The MOST to the LEAST
For every single Boudoir Experience we ALWAYS suggest bring something that you would wear out for a night out. A super sexy dress for example.
Even if you’re brave enough to be totally naked.
Why?
Firstly, it will give you some amazing pictures that you can show everyone. The kids, Mum, social Media, anyone.
Secondly, and more importantly, it will give you time to settle into the experience of being photographed and get rid of you ‘camera face’ (We all have one. The ‘selfie face’, the smiley face, the look into the camera face… You’ll know it looks a little un-natural )
We recommend layering so you can take items off as you become more comfortable. It not only helps you to relax but also creates a story for the shoot so it’s not just a series of random images but a sequence with a purpose.
Remember, you decide how much or how little you reveal on your shoot. This is all about you.
Maybe Dresses aren’t your thing, so wear something that defines you. Start covered and we’ll make you look super sexy.
Just a little LESS
Some clients are more modest, but still want to bring their version of SEXY to the Boudoir session. Stockings underneath oversized shirts, swimsuits, Knotted T-shirts and rolled sleeves are all fabulous options for a more modest Boudoir look. Revealing little, while looking super sexy.

Getting a little braver and revealing a little more.
Implied
Look at the gorgeous portrait below. Is she nude? or is her nudity implied?
Do you think she's wearing a strapless bra under this sheet or nothing at all?
That is implied nudity.
No one knows.
It's left completely up the imagination of the person she shares this image with.
Implied nudity is always an option and again, we only work to within your personal comfort levels.
Implied nudity is easy to do and almost every client chooses to do this. It’s a ‘bucket list’ wish. It’s challenging and exciting. (and not as painful or undignified as giving birth! … Why where 3 junior doctors needed in the delivery room that day?)
Getting Really Brave
After getting totally relaxed on their shoot and seeing some wonderful results, many of our clients start to get really brave and try out things they wouldn’t normally dream of. This is when you see the smiles really start to broaden and laughter gets louder. She finds her super power and show off as much as she would on a tropical holiday. Maybe a shower picture in a T-shirt or some lingerie which lives little to the imagination.

Curvy bottoms and gorgeous backs always make for incredibly sexy portraits and many of our clients are happy to show them off.
We love creating images that you never thought you could pull off. We want you to feel amazing when you see your pictures. Show them off with pride and joy.

Remember that series - ‘How to look good naked’?
Fashion stylist Gok Wan encouraged women who were insecure with their bodies to strip nude for the camera. Then a very large picture of the woman's body would be displayed in a public place, such as projected onto the side of a building or on the side of a van for passers-by to see. Now that took real strength of character and you’ll be surprised how much power you’ll discover in yourself during this experience. (Though we certainly won’t be putting your pictures on display anywhere. We’ll leave that for you! )

A quick note on your level of nudity
Do the Nude shots last.
Try not to think or worry about the nude shots that you’re planning to have taken.
Instead, try and enjoy the shoot as it happens and become accustomed to how glamorous you’ll feel in front of the camera.
You’ll be gently guided through every pose and start to feel super confident very quickly.
We will only suggest you do the naked or semi-nude pictures at the end when you’ll be feeling the most relaxed.
We will also encourage you to cover up between poses with a dressing gown or sheet so that you’ll never feel exposed for longer than it takes to get the shot.
Your comfort and well being will be our main priority throughout the shoot and a cover up will ensure that you’re not baring your all for prolonged periods. Clothing can be quickly removed just for the time it takes for the shot to be taken.
