THE TOP TEN QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE YOU BOOK A BOUDOIR SESSION

CHOOSE YOUR BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHER CAREFULLY

No one wants to live with regret, and when it comes to choosing a boudoir photographer, it’s a bit trickier than most of our normal, daily decisions.

There’s so much information out there and a lot of amateur photographers advertising some great deals. (Like photoshoots for a tenner!)

It’s hard to know where to start and not get sucked into a seductive offer and end up regretting it later. Remember, you’ll be visiting a stranger and you’ll likely be standing in front of that stranger either completely naked or partially naked. Not something you want to do lightly. You’ll need to keep your wits about you and not just jump into this with no consideration or research beforehand.

Of course, if you’ve never booked a photographer before then how do you know what to look for?

How To Look Comfortable In Your Boudoir Photos

Here are some tips on how to look comfortable for your Boudoir Photoshoot.

Like Ballet Hands and Toes… You’ve seen how elegant a Ballet Dancer’s hands look as she gracefully holds a pose. Every finger is gently curved, nothing is stiff and straight.

And you’ll know how beautiful a Ballerina can look when she’s ‘en pointe’ - We’ll help you to point your toes as well and never be so flat footed. This will elongate your legs and make your body look slimmer.

We will instruct you on fingers and toes a lot. (Jayne’s formal training in Ballet and 2 years at Moulin Rouge means she’s pretty well versed in the art of elegant posing. You’re in great hands )

Boudoir Tips - Hands Are Important

Without a doubt, posing for a boudoir session can be a little intimidating!

Most of us are not natural-born models.

99% of clients start out the session by telling us they don’t know how to pose! They often say – “What do I do with my hands?”

Hands can look awkward and make you look nervous but with a little gentle direction we can make sure your hands look wonderful and help you radiate a feeling of confidence.

Most people worry about smiling and expression in front of the camera but pay little regard to their hands.

One of the most important things we do is to get you to relax those hands. Shake out all the stiffness. Create shapes like ‘ballet hands’ – Part and bend the fingers. No clenched, closed fists or straight, regimental hands. Just softe and gentle hands. Like a ballet dancer.

A Boudoir Photoshoot Is For Every Body… But It’s Not For Everybody!

I’ve just seen a post on Facebook that said “ Why Does it cost £600 to buy one photo?”

The question was loaded with sarcasm from a woman who may well have had a poor experience from another studio. (I checked, it wasn’t us)

However, the question got me thinking. How do you put a price on something? Is a picture worth 60p, £6 or £600? More importantly, how much is that picture worth to you?

Clearly if that picture was completely unique and made by a craftsman, such as the Mona Lisa, then it’s value is worth substantially more than £600 (Actually, it’s around £800 Million)

If the picture is from your iPhone and printed at your local Boots, then it’s probably worth 60p.

So, what makes a picture worth more, or less? …

Why A Cheap Boudoir Photoshoot Says A Lot About How You Value Yourself

So, how much are you worth investing in?

Not very much or do you feel you’re worth it?

Some years ago we set up a new studio in Leeds and decided it would be a good idea to advertise on Groupon and Wowcher to attract some new clients.

We noticed something interesting. People love a bargain. Of course that’s not new, but the levels people will sell themselves to get a bargain surprised us. We had women turn up with raggedy non matching underwear, strip off in front of total strangers, do the poses and walk away with their flimsy free paper print. (They didn’t get a choice of print either. We chose the print and it was always a portrait with our branding on as stipulated in the Groupon conditions. ) Of course many people didn’t have the money to purchase finished albums or wall art and we were left wondering why these women booked the photoshoot in the first place. Why would any woman take their clothes off and go through this experience without any real input or investment from their end? …

He has a great team of make up artists and assistants who managed to turn me from looking like something the cat had dragged in to this!” … Clare
