The Top 10 Boudoir Poses

The Top 10 Boudoir Poses…

Firstly, let’s make one thing clear. We don’t do traditional poses.

We know, everyone is different, with different body shapes and range of movement. Every client has a different comfort level as well with regard to how much of their body they want to show off.

Every Madison Bou Experience is customised around the individual. We know that what works for one client may well be totally wrong for another.

So, with that in mind, here are the 10 most popular and most often used boudoir poses on a Madison Bou Experience that flatter a large range of our clients and it’s fair to say that some (though not all) of these will work well with you. These are the poses that are most flattering to the widest variety of women, offer the most variety from a single pose and are the easiest for ‘non-models’ to perform…

1 – THE HEADSHOT

Hardly traditional boudoir but a great way to ease you in gently. A few minutes doing head and shoulders shots in beautiful light and you’ll gain much needed confidence in front of the camera. Plus of course, you’ll see just how beautiful your hair and make-up is – Bonus!

2 – THE SIGNIFICANT OTHER’S WHITE SHIRT

Every man loves to see you in his white shirt. Every woman looks sexy in a man’s white shirt. Whether you’re in a relationship or not, we’ll always suggest you bring something nicely ironed to wear for a super clean and bright look. Plus, it’s another great way to ease you in to boudoir gently. With a bra showing underneath or braless to show off more cleavage, you’ll love these pictures since they often capture your fun and expressive side perfectly.

3 – LAYING BACK ON THE BED

Bedshots are the mainstay of Boudoir Photography and we capture as many different looks as possible using a variety of different lighting and simple body posing. Lying back on the bed is always a winner. We love decorating the scene with accessories such as fabrics and flowers  and we make sure your arms and legs are in perfect positions to create stylish and artistic images ideal when displayed as wall art… Sexy, Sultry and Seductive. Certainly one of the most requested boudoir poses.

4 – LYING ON YOUR FRONT ON THE BED

Do a search on the internet for boudoir photography and this is the pose that you’ll see most often. Legs up behind you, legs down, everything works. We love to backlight the hair for these types of pictures or at least throw some light across the body for added drama. As we work the picture, we’ll slowly ask you to rotate from the hip, move a knee and pretty soon you’ll see a whole range of great pictures from just a few minutes of shooting. Push that hip up and arch the back even more than you think you can and create an amazing ‘triangle of awesomeness’ between the hip, the upper thigh and lower abdomen. Move the arm closest to the camera down to expose the curve of the side of the breast and before you know it, you’ve gone from safe and comfy to super sexy in just a couple of minutes.

5 – USING MIRRORS

We love using mirrors. it’s a great way to show of the whole body, the outfit and the booty. (Every girl loves a great booty shot), At Hazlewood Castle we have so many fabulous mirrors in every room so our options are endless. Another Madison Bou signature shot.

6 – USING NATURAL BACKLIGHT

We love the romantic feel of backlight. It’s fattering and slimming at the same time and it adds softness and glow to skin. What could be more perfect?

7 – THE KYLIE POSE

Named after one of Kylie Minogue’s iconic pictures, this is one of our most requested images to recreate but we’ll not do this with everyone. Why? Because, although it looks super dramatic, it also hurts and many clients simply can’t do this. It’s a pose that stretches your body and highlights your curves. Plus, everyone’s legs look amazing in this pose. Stunning! One for the brave.

8 – THE IMPLIED NUDE

whether we do this or not is entirely up to you and the motivation for booking the shoot in the first place. Gok Wan would certainly tell you to ‘just do it’. If you want the images as a gift for your significant other then it’s pretty much an essential. Remember that we have many years of experience photographing women who look like they’re naked but are actually showing nothing off. It’s the art of ‘implied’ that’s sexy. (Sure, many of our clients want to throw caution to the wind and just get naked but the vast majority are not that brave) Nobody looks too fat in any of our pictures, nobody sees cellulite, lumps and bumps, neck rings, scars or indeed anything they don’t want to see in any of our pictures. Our use of fabrics and retouching skills are the reason why we stand out from the crowd when it comes to this sort of boudoir image.

9 – THE LEGS UP THE WALL POSE

Possibly the most requested pose of all and guaranteed to make your legs look incredible. Legs up the wall on the floor or on the bed, this pose is a winner every single time.

10 – SHOW THE GOODS

Finally, we go to great lengths to highlight your best assets, whatever you think they may be. You may love your legs, or breasts, or booty. Perhaps what you really love are your eyes or hair. Whatever it is you love, we’ll give it the star treatment and make sure that what you love is made to look even better.
