Inhibition is Sexy; You Don’t Have to Bare it all

“I do not need a bed to show my femininity. I can be sexy by plucking apples from a tree or standing in the rain”…Audrey Hepburn

Modest Boudoir Inhibition is Sexy; You Don’t Have to Bare it All

When you think of boudoir, you often think of sexy and provocative women wearing very little clothing and that’s fine for those who want to push the boat out a little.

It’s important to keep in mind, though, that Boudoir is all about the woman in the pictures keeping control.

She determines how far and in what direction the photoshoot goes and it’s all about her particular comfort level. It’s a perfectly safe environment for her to work in. (or at least, it certainly should be.)

Every woman has a different idea of ‘sexy’ and some, instead of shedding layers of clothing see sexy more in an Audrey Hepburn kind of way. Resolutely remaining well covered.

Audrey Hepburn was one of those rare Hollywood stars who would always look sexy, whatever she was wearing.

Some women are saying ‘no’ to shedding the layers, and instead of lingerie, wearing whatever they see fit.

But surely that’s not Boudoir?

Well, we believe it is. It’s tasteful boudoir, or as we like to call it, ‘modest’ Boudoir. This is Boudoir for those who don’t want to show too much skin. Boudoir is whatever you make of it. While skin certainly makes a regular appearance – it’s not a necessity.

In fact, the concept of boudoir photography has been around for many decades, but in recent years, it has gained widespread popularity as a way for women to celebrate their bodies and feel confident and sexy. However, many women largely ignore Boudoir photography because they believe it requires revealing too much skin or being overtly sexual.

The truth is that Boudoir can be both modest and sexy, and it all comes down to the approach. (Again, I refer you to Audrey Hepburn…. Always perfectly dressed yet one of the sexiest women of her generation)

Modesty is often thought of as the opposite of sexiness, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Modesty can be incredibly alluring, and it can add an element of mystery and intrigue to Boudoir photography.

When done properly, ‘modest’ boudoir can be even more sensual and seductive than more revealing styles.

One way to achieve modest boudoir is to focus on the artistry of the images. Rather than emphasizing the woman's body. We do this by the careful use of light, shadow, and composition to create images that are sensual and suggestive without being. at all explicit. A well-placed veil or a strategically draped sheet can add an element of mystery and draw the viewer's attention to the subject's eyes or curves.

Another approach to Modest Boudoir is to focus on the subject's personality and unique beauty.

By capturing the subject's essence rather than just their body, the images become more intimate and personal. This approach can involve more clothing and less skin, but it can still be incredibly sexy and empowering. The key is to make the subject feel comfortable and confident, which will shine through in the images.

Modesty in boudoir photography doesn't mean that the images have to be boring or dull. In fact, it can be the opposite. By using creativity and imagination, modest boudoir can be just as exciting and arousing as more explicit styles. It's all about the balance between leaving something to the imagination and showing enough to make the viewer's heart race.

Modest Boudoir can be just as sexy and empowering as more revealing styles.

By focusing on the artistry of the images, the subject's unique beauty, and using creativity and imagination, photography can create images that are sensual, suggestive, and intimate. It's all about finding the right balance and making the subject feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.

So if you're considering boudoir photography but are hesitant about revealing too much, don't be afraid to embrace modesty and create images that celebrate your beauty and sensuality in a way that feels authentic and empowering to you.

Boudoir goes beyond the idea of just being ‘sexy’

While boudoir has come to signify the ‘bedroom’ in modern language, (Literally, the word means a woman's bedroom or small private room.) it really symbolises a private safe place for a woman to engage in an activity of her choice – the keyword being choice.

So, if the thought of having to step outside of your comfort zone fills you with dread, well, – worry not. The primary goal of boudoir photography remains the same no matter what. And, it’s delightfully simple – to make a woman feel desirable and self-confident about her beauty. To encourage her to feel at ease and at home from start to finish, while having fun all the while and being tastefully sultry.

If you’re comfortable with risqué poses and thread-bare lingerie – then so be it.

However, If it means head-to-toe coverage – then we’ll work with you to create something super sexy with clothes on.

There’s no room for prejudice, and judgment in a boudoir studio, in fact it’s a judgement free and stress free zone.

You can whisper sexy, not scream it

You can be seductive and sexy, sweet and bashful, let the imagination wonder while creating the illusion of nudity while barely being nude at all! When you’re comfortable, you are at your most beautiful, radiant, and stunningly sexy. It’s then that the true you shines out to be captured by the camera.

Think Audrey Hepburn

How some women dare to not bare

In fact, some women opt for figure-hugging bodysuits, and some add coverage by using handheld props such as fans, mirrors, and even books!

Veils and other such fabrics are also ideal for shielding the body while adding an artful touch of elegance and sophistication. All the while, these transparent (or not so transparent) props tantalize, adding a subtle hint of fire to even the most tasteful photos.

Another great option for a more modest boudoir session is to don clothes you’d normally wear but with the added twist of daring cutouts. Even an off-the-shoulder look adds some va-va-voom.

Think Tasteful

What’s more, suggestive poses are by no means a must. Your essence is naturally electrifying. Professional boudoir photographers are masters at capturing this aura no matter how subtle and displaying it clearly in the final photos. So, whether you’re sitting, lounging, standing, and pulling any shape that comes to mind, they’ll bring out the most in your silhouette – that’s a promise!

And finally …

Your photographer follows your lead. Of course, you’ll discuss how you’d like the session to go beforehand, giving you time to set boundaries and talk about any particulars. If you find that you’d like to dial-up or down the heat midway through a session – let your photographer know. They’ll adapt accordingly, ensuring you feel comfortably sexy at all times.
