Beauty sessions are a great option for women who want to feel beautiful and confident in front of the camera, but may not feel comfortable with a full Boudoir photoshoot. They are a slightly more modest alternative to boudoir, but still allow you to show off your sexy and glamorous side.

Glamour or Boudoir Photography near York – Which is your style?

People ask this all the time and here we’ll show you the difference so you can make an informed choice as to which type of photoshoot style you want to take part in.

Often, the line between these two genres can appear blurry but really it comes down to a sense of your own comfort limits.

Remember the old term of ‘Glamour Photography’ ? Page 3 of the Sun kind of style?

Well, let me tell you right now, Modern Glamour is most certainly not that!

Glamour is essentially a photoshoot with lots of facial portraits with fabulous hair and make-up. Often glamour is about stunning dresses and beautiful surroundings as well. Actually to remove the genre from the old-style image of ‘glamour’ we sometimes shorten the word to ‘Glam’ as in ‘Get your glam on’ or use the term ‘Beauty Photography’

When you hear the words “glamour photography,” what comes to mind?

If it’s feather boas, lots of hairspray and cheesy poses then think again.

Glamour has come along way since the 80s. Todays Glam is more contemporary, fashion forward beauty photography for discerning women.

Women who appreciate the finer things in life.

If you’re thinking of booking a Glam shoot, these are some glamour photography tips you can do to get ready for the shoot day.

One of the big questions you’ll need to ask yourself early on is how you want your pictures to look.

Some of our clients want to feel the excitement and ‘rush’ of baring all in front of the camera. Totally naked, indoors, or even bolder, outdoors in nature. ( Some studios call this ‘Fine Art’ style )

Other clients don’t want to go that far and prefer the idea of wearing lingerie and being photographed in a more sensual way. (This is more traditional ‘Boudoir’ style )

A third group of clients prefer the idea of being photographed with clothes for a more Fashion look ( We call this ‘Glamour or Beauty’ style )

The decision you make is entirely up to you and your personal comfort level. Many women think they’s like to go bolder but during the shoot play a little safer and other go the other way. Start with stretchy jumpers and white shirts and then graduate to white sheets and soon muster up the courage to walk around totally naked without a care in the world! (If we happen to be photographing in a luxury Hotel we often find ourselves pleeding with clients to cover up so that the hotel guests aren’t offended. Honestly, that’s more common than you can imagine.

The truth is though, we actively encourage you to arrive with an open mind.

“After a tough year, we didn’t feel very confident (I’d put on weight and Danny has lost it) and didn’t feel ready for a photo shoot. Getting to the studio and looking at the glamorous photos on the wall, I thought I’d never look anything like those pictures. However, I began to relax with the friendly makeup artist and Dave being attentive to the different outfits we’d brought, analysing the styles and colours and matching them to locations. We thought Dave was fantastic at directing us into positions and reassuring us that we were doing well. That really put us at ease and before long we started to enjoy the shoot and the time flew by! If people ask us what we specialise in, we tell them – Glamorous Makeover Photography. This is what we do and it’s quite distinctive. The last thing we do is take a picture and then present it to a client. You can do that in decent light, on your smartphone.

What we do is make sure you look as glamorous as possible with great hair and great make-up and then, that’s just the start.

Then we spend time to get to know you and find out as much as we can about your personal style and try and relax you as much as possible…
