Whether you do a boudoir session for yourself or for somebody else as a gift, the one who really benefits from these experiences is YOU.

Why?

Because boudoir is for every BODY and in some cases, it can even change lives.

Again, why?

Well, For most people, taking a good many clothes off and posing in front of a camera with a relative stranger is a super scary thing to do. (By ‘super scary’, think jumping out of a plane scary… but less dangerous!)

Fear of any type is generally quite debilitating but overcoming those fears is actually quite liberating.

Imagine the rush, to overcome a fear of heights and jump out of a plane (parachute on of course) and land safely on the ground. That rush will fill you with so much confidence.

The same thing happens for so many women when they do a boudoir photo shoot. – The initial fear and anxiety, followed by that incredible rush of excitement to see the finished pictures and then, the insane rush of excitement (and pride) when you view them again, and again, and again. (For years to come)

We often say that a Boudoir Photoshoot is empowering yet we are starting to dislike that word.

It’s too associated with the empowerment of women in particular, whereas, many of our clients already feel the equal or more powerful than their male counterparts. Our clients come to us primarily to gain more confidence and overcome anxieties in much the same way they would want to become more confident to sing on stage, or ride a rollercoaster or go for a job interview. Overcoming these fears, which can include showing off your body, can be incredibly ‘liberating’. -So instead of ’empowering’ perhaps we really mean ‘liberating’ and the feeling can last for the rest of your life.

That’s why a Boudoir Experience is so positive.

When they come to their viewing, they face another form of fear. They wonder : “What if I don’t like the way I look in my pictures?”

This is a far more common fear now, in the age of the selfie, than you would ever expect. After all, we have hundreds of pictures of ourselves, surely we would be used to the way we look by now?

Let me ask you this – If I were to fix all the leaky taps in the house would you be happy with all your taps? OK, plumbers don’t answer that question please. Generally speaking, we (I certainly include me in this) wouldn’t have a bloody clue how to fix a leaky tap. No matter how many taps, we still wouldn’t know what to do because we’re not plumbers.

So… If you’re not a photographer, why on Earth would you expect to like a picture that you take of yourself in bad light, with a distorting, wide-angle phone camera lens, with a daft, chin up, selfie-expression???

Let the plumbers do the taps and let the photographers take your pictures and this way you’ll have more chance of loving the results.
